Review: Cheeburger Cheeburger

Cheeburger Cheeburger is an Auburn tradition and even as it now seems like you can find this restaurant in many other areas it’s tradition here is still strong.

On a random Tuesday I stopped by the local Cheeburger with a group of friends for lunch. After placing my order, a serious with chedder, A1, lettuce and onions as well as a basket of onion rings and fries, I enjoyed a conversation about the housing market and the upcoming holiday. It was only a short while until the food arrived and after a blessing was said we all dug in. One thing is for sure, no matter what you order it will come in great quantity. The Burger was cooked perfectly, medium well, and the fries and onion rings were just right.

Another thing Cheeburger Cheeburger has going for it is great atmosphere. Even though it is a bit disappointing that after their last major remodel they moved the Polaroids covering the walls onto hooks it still has the same old charm. I didn’t get a shake this time but from experience as well as one of the other guys that got one this time I can assure you they are top notch. They are also among the thickest milkshakes I believe I have ever had.

This uneventful Tuesday lunch went well and everyone had hot tasty food and great service. I imagine a review on a gameday would be a bit different but that’s true for everywhere in Auburn. Although it is a bit more expensive than a fast food burger it easily makes for a great lunch destination if you are going to be near downtown.

Review: Outback Catering

At a recent catered event put on by the Auburn and Opelika chambers I was treated to some of the best catering I’ve had from a chain. If you read the title of this post then already know something that I did not. As I enjoyed the Seared Ahi Tuna, Crab Cakes, Steak, Shimp and eventually the cheesecake I had no idea it all came from Outback.

I admit that Outback is on my rotation of regular steakhouse stops but I never knew they had it in them to do such a great job catering. I evidently have been missing the tuna as an appetiser on their menu as well but I won’t make that mistake again. One of the things that impressed me most of all was how hot and fresh everything was. I’m taking the description of Seared Ahi Tuna from their website. Sashimi-style Yellow Fin Tuna, spice rubbed and seared. Served with sides of soy dressing and wasabi vinaigrette. I never would have imagined having that catered and it tasting so well but to my great pleasure it was wonderful.

I do want to give a lot of credit to our great local caterers in the area as well. I’ve enjoyed a lot of great food at catered events around Auburn. It just happens to be that my last catered event was highlighted by some great food from Outback.

Thanks for visiting,

Pre-Launch

We are online but we are doing a “Pre-Launch” of sorts for those following Auburn Elite on Twitter and Pownce. Please let us know what you think of the site and any issues you encounter before we really start promoting later in the week.

Thanks for your time,

Making Progress

We have made it through “O” in our initial round of collecting menus. We will go to “Z” by the end of the week and then start round two of collecting menus in order to fill in some of the gaps from our first attempt. We are going to work as quickly as we can to have the list to 100% of possible menus online but we image in reality it could take some time to get to everyone. It would be a huge help to us if you could fax or email us additional menus we do not yet have posted or have the resturaunts themselves send it to us by you passing our information along to them.

If you would like to help you can email .pdf versions or links to the menus to contact@auburnelite.com or fax menus to (334)460.8838.

Thank you for your patience.
